Thirty Twice

Thirty Twice

1. Try Smiling             7:45

Try Smiling simply says in a soothing melodic manner:  I’ve arrived on the scene and have only just begun to imprint my style of living on the tapestry of life. This is truly mood music that makes you want to dance and sway with your partner.  Enjoy sharing the experience of closeness as you immerse into a realm of music that refreshes the senses.  Additionally, allow yourself to become mesmerized by the almost spiritually uplifting crescendo of the string instruments as they make a grand entrance joining their clear and crisp musical notes that lightly cascade a midst of pure delight upon you while blending masterfully with the sensuous blare of the brass and percussion instruments.  Try Smiling definitely arouses the gaiety and playfulness of youth within your body.

2. Deep Kimchi       6:59

This tune is perky.  It makes you want to bounce through your daily activities as the Deep Kimchi causes the adrenaline to rise within you.  Doesn’t the call and response between the piano with all of the trills and the organ remind you of how adventurous, carefree and loved you once felt?  Deep Kimchi is full of surprises:  Just when you focus upon the melody of one instrument another one enters the picture at precisely the right moment that mirrors the varied experiences people encounter in daily life.

3. Living Large  8:17

Slow, deliberate and intentional are all adjectives describing Living Large.  Take life as it comes and patiently deal with each crisis in order to successfully master it, the wise sage advises and the steady cadence of the piano music played by hands firmly pressing each key exemplifies.  Living Large slowly but sweetly creeps into the very essence of your being and leaves you with a universal feeling that all is well in your life.

4. Mid-Life Crisis         8:59

Maturity is represented by the mellow, smooth, low texture of the guitar, piano and flute interplay.  Yet, listen to the fluttering notes of the flute and ascending trills of the piano as they flirt with your imagination and seem to beckon you to move into another stage of your life—something new and thrilling that awakens your slumbering consciousness.

5. I’m Thirty Twice     9:48

I’m Thirty Twice will eventually be remembered as the  “I am proud song” because it brings to the surface of the mind graduation (successful accomplishment), joyful reflections upon other experiences and positive thoughts of the future. Youthfulness is in the spirited piano notes as they relate I’m Thirty Twice.  The suave saxophone playing places a “swagger within your hips” and picks up the melodious notes conveying I’m Thirty Twice.   This majestic piece is truly a masterpiece extraordinaire.

6. Full Tilt Boogie       8:21

Pat your foot.  Now pat both of your feet.  Ready.  Set.  March!  If the other songs on the Thirty Twice CD don’t have you moving your feet then Full Tilt Boogie will.  You can’t sit still on Full Tilt Boogie.  Your shoulders will be moving.  The feet will be moving.  The hips will move and your face will show the  “I AM all that” attitude.  PAPA BASS makes the organ jam.  Pay particular attention to Papa’s footwork on the organ’s bass pedals.  Hold your hands up folks and walk on through life with Full Tilt Boogie while swaying to the beat, prancing to the cadence and smiling with attitude.

7. Once Upon MyYouth   9:11

Splendor in paradise is Once Upon My Youth.  The tempo of the string instruments returns you to the cool, crisp and gentle breeze days of spring a.k.a. youth.  Notice the light plucking in the background reminiscent of the carefree “skipping through life” teenage years.  However, the piano with its clear sustaining notes keeps you centered on the main theme of Once Upon My Youth.

8. Remember Quickie 13:43

Oh gosh!  Could Papa be thinking what I am thinking?  Nevertheless, Papa’s notes are clean, quick and the tongue on the trumpet is rolling.  I love Remember Quickie with its mambo themes throughout.  Remember Quickie makes you want to raise your hands to the heavens and cry out “Yes, Papa I hear you!”

9. Fuzzy Logic        5:28

Fuzzy Logic sounds like its name but the musical blend of the instruments is exceptional.  A lot of thought went into orchestrating Fuzzy Logic.  This song makes you want to hold your “honey” close and absorb the music as you indulge in sensuous delight.  Fuzzy Logic is perfection.

- Happy Birthday Papa Bass -
